Envy does not pay

Envy does not pay Once upon a time, there lived a man called Tanimu, he was a hunter who hunted and got what his family would eat every day. He has two wives, one called Nabila and the other called Mami. Nabeelah was very kind to all the people as well as the animals but they never had children and this condition was really a bad issue for the whole family. One day Nabeelah was very sick and weak to the extent that she can’t even talk, so Mr. Tanimu rushed her to the hospital, at the hospital, the doctor told Mr. Tanimu that his wife Nabeelah was four months pregnant, so Mr. Tanimu was very happy with this good news. So from that very day, Mr. Tanimu began to show Nabeelah a good care and always responded to all her needs but Mami was very sad for what her husband was doing to Nabeelah, so one day Mami told her best friend all her feelings about the pregnancy. Her friend said she knew how to handle the case. One afternoon, Ramatu brought some medical powder which is tight in a leath...

RVT Test

RETROVIRAL SCREENIG TEST: Principle:-This test is used to screening persons who has come to know his / her status , this methodology is also used to test those products at high risk for the development of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) such as homosexual, intravenous drugs users, and other who have been exposed to unprotected sex, blood or blood product. Aim: to detect the presence of HIV/AIDS in blood sample. Materials Test Strip sample (serum / plasma/ whole blood) Buffer Gloves disposable pipette Procedure: The test strip was labeled with patient’s identification number. The protective foil cover of the strip was pulled off. About 50ul of sample was placed on the test strip using a Pasteur or precision pipette to the absorbent pad on the strip The result was observed after 15minutes.Results Interpretation:- Positive; two red/pink lines of any intensity appear in both the control and the patient areawhiletheNegative; one line appears in the contro...

Hepatitis test

HEPATITIS SERUMANTIGEN B AND C Aim: to determine the presence of hepatitis B and C virus Materials: serum, hepatitis B and C strip Principle:-The HbsAg one step Hepatitis B surface Antigen Test strip (serum/plasma) is a qualitative, lateral flow immunoassay for the detection of HbsAg in serum or plasma. The membrane is pre-coated with anti- HbsAg antibodies on the test region of strip. During testing, the serum or plasma specimen reacts with the particle coated with anti-HbsAg antigen. The mixture migrates upward on the membrane chromatographically by action or reacts with anti- HbsAg antibodies of the membrane and generates a colored line. To serve as a procedural control, a color line will always appear in the control region indicating that proper volume of specimen has been added and membrane wicking has occurred. Procedure:- About 1.5ml-2.0ml of blood orserum was placed in a sample container. Test strip was opened from the pouch at the notch and remove the test strip. It ...

Blood grouping

BLOOD GROUPING (A B O) Aim: to determine the blood group status of patients. Materials: whole blood sample, tile, grouping reagent, a Pasteur pipette, stirrer and cotton wool. Procedure: the patient’s blood sample is collected and dropped on three spots of a grease free tile by a dropper, anti-A, Anti-B, and Anti-D reagents are added to the first, second and the third spots of the tile respectively, it is mixed and rocked for 5 minutes. Principle: this result in an agglutination reaction between an antigen and antibodies (funk; tabatabai;hargiusi;martin and Hoffman; 2005).Human blood types are determined by the presence or absence of 2 types of antigenic glycoprotein in the membrane of RBCsABO blood group antigens: A antigen B antigen D antigen The presence or absence of Rhesus antigen determines the rhesus factor of an individual. Someone with the Rhesus antigen on the RBCs has a positive rhesus factor while someone without the Rhesus antigen on the RBCs has a negative rhesu...

Urinalysis

Urinalysis:-Urine is produced and excreted by the kidneys. Each kidney contains over one million functional units called Enthrones. The filtration part of each Nephron consists of a cup-shaped structure called the Bowman’s capsule which surrounds a mass of blood capillaries called theglomerular. The composition of urine depends on glomerular filtration, tubular re-absorption and tubular secretion. Aim: To detect the level of certain substances in the body as glucose, nitrites, Bilirubin, etc in the patient’s urine. Materials: patient urine, combi9 test strip, urine container, Test tube, centrifuging machine, sterile slide, cover slip, microscopy. COLLECTION OF URINESAMPLE Urine specimen is collected by given the patient a urine sterile container and shows the patient on where to go and ease. Sufficient urine is required. After collection, the urine is observed physically, chemically by dipping a urine combi9 strip for observing the particular substances or metabolites in the uri...

How to carry out widal test

WIDAL TEST: Aim: to detect presence of salmonella antibodies in patient’s blood serum, the causative agent of typhoid fever. Material: febrile antigen kit, disposable stirrers, Pasteur pipette, a tile, test tube, centrifuges. Principle: The Widal test is a serological technique which test for the presence of salmonella antibodies in a patient plasma, this test is done to check the bacteria salmonella Typhi which courses typhoid. When investigating typhoid, the patient’s serum is tested for O and H antibodies (agglutinations) against the following antigen suspension:- S-Typhi O antigen suspension S-Typhi H antigen suspension Anti-febrile antigens are suitable for both the rapid slide and tube agglutination tests against human sera for the detection of this agglutination. Anti-stained antigens suspensions are killed, bacteria stained antigens are specific to the flagella H antigens. The Widaltest kit contains attenuated typhoid antigens which react specifically with the body’s anti...

How to carry out pregnancy test

SERUM PREGNANCY TEST: Aim: for the invitro qualitative detection of human chronic Gonadotropin (HCG) in serum. Materials; Blood serum, specimen container, HCG test strip, timer. Principle: The pregnancy test (PT) strip is embedded with specific anti-bodies to detect HCG hormone in the urine or blood serum with high degree of sensitivity. The labeled anti-bodies dye conjugate in the strip binds to HCG (antigens) in the urine or serum forming an antigen-antibody complex, thereby generating a visible red-colored line, on the test region of the strip .The test strip contains combination of goat/rabbit polyclonal antibodies and mouse monoclonal antibodies. Procedure: the test strip was removed from the scaled pouch with arrows pointing towards the serum specimen. The strip was Immerse vertically in the serum specimen for at least 10-15 seconds. Do not pass the maximum line (MAX) on the test strip when immersing the strip. The strip was placed on a non-absorbent flat surface; the timer w...

How to carry out a glucose test

GLUCOSE TEST USING GLUCO METER MACHINE Aim:- to detect the concentration of glucose in the blood of man this is the concentration of glucose in the blood, normally expressed in mille moles per liter. Blood sugar estimation is an important investigation in a variety of diseases, most notably in diabetes mellitus. Glucose is the primary source of energy for the body’s cells and blood lipids. There are two (2) different types of glucose test FIGURE6: Glucumetermachine. A.Fasting Blood Sugar (F,B, S). This measures blood glucose after you have not eaten for at least 8 hours, it often the first test done to check for pre-diabetes and diabetes. .Random Blood Sugar (RBS): This measures blood glucose regardless of when you ate. Several random measurements may be taken throughout the day. Random testing is useful because glucose levels in healthy people do not vary widely throughout the day. Normal value range: may vary between the two types of test. The normal value range for fasting ...

Why vitamins and minerals are the answer

HY VITAMINS AND So many of us wish we had more energy, better abs, and sharper focus. Likewise, we often find ourselves wishing that we had better skin or hair. We wish that we could sleep better at night, and wish that it was a little bit easier to wake up (those last two points are related, by the way!). This has led to the emergence of numerous industries, all built around helping us to feel, look, and perform better. We spend huge amounts of cash on skincare products, on sleep supplements, and on gym memberships. We try all kinds of crazy things, whether that’s lying on a bed of gentle spikes to improve sleep (yes, that’s a real thing!), wearing blue-blocking shades all day, or wearing energy- healing crystals (which are about as effective as wishing really hard!). We try these things because we’re looking for answers, and we’re desperate. We’re willing to try anything. And we hope, each time, that we’re about to stumble upon the answer...

5 ways to improve your health

5 ways to improve your brain health TOPICS:BrainExerciseNeuroscienceNutrition SEPTEMBER 27, 2022 Early studies of the brain showed that there wasn't much you could do as an adult to improve brain health and cognitive function. Most believed that brain development took place in early childhood and that after a certain age you just worked with what you had. Today we know that this is not true. While the brain is most plastic and mature for learning and growing in the early years, the brain never stops working to create new pathways, connections, and new brain cells. Five ways you can start improving your brain health today 1. Feed your brain the right food Eating a healthy, balanced diet is great for a healthy body and brain, but there are some specific foods that pack an extra punch in the big brain department. Oily fish like salmon, herring, and sardines are wonderful. Blueberries, nuts and seeds, and green leafy vegetables are also good. Coffee is a good neuroprotectant...

The excellence of christian love

Lumina Bookstore introduction The love chapter of Scripture is not really the best choice of a reading at any and all weddings. What we have here are some radical principles of conduct that pertain to the Christian. The passage is not talking about love; it is talking about Christian love. Of course, any wedding where there is a commitment to love in the name of Christ, where there is love to Christ, at such a wedding the reading of this chapter of Scripture is definitely appropriate. The context of this chapter is concerned with the place of extraordinary gifts at the Corinthian church. With all the “goings” on, the church is called to seek the better gifts (12:31a). That is, they are to pursue the more useful gifts, even if these are less attractive. They should not over exaggerate the place of the more attractive but less useful gifts (love is in the background already versus me, myself, and I in the limelight or “having it my way”). As he is about to explain...

Characteristics of christian love

What does the greatest command hinge upon? Love. What will be the defining characteristic of followers of Jesus? Love. What will never pass away, even after faith and hope are gone? Love. Love is the mark of the disciple. Jesus said that “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35). Not our Bible knowledge. Not our our fasting. Not our stance on public issues. Those things are important indeed, but according to Jesus, the defining mark of Christian discipleship is love. Simple enough, except for the fact that this word – love – has been so overused that it no longer has much meaning. Consider how many times you’ve heard the word love today. For that matter, consider how many times you’ve used the word love today. We “love” foods, sports, celebrities, puppies, and our moms. We love movies, nature, long walks on the beach, and everything in between. We are a culture, it seems, that is in love with being in love. As a result, to say...

The christian conception of love

All Christian love has its source and exemplar in the love of God. ‘Beloved,’ wrote St. John, ‘if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another’, or again, ‘God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.’ St. Paul was equally clear; it is God's love which ‘has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us’, and it is the love of Christ (which is, of course, the love of God revealed in Christ) that constrains us to live no longer for ourselves—the usual way in which our human love is evidenced. Dietrich Bonhoeffer echoed this from his German prison, ‘No one knows what love is except in the self-revelation of God… It is only the concrete action and suffering of Jesus Christ which will make it possible to understand what love is.’ So we must begin with the love of God; and yet our understanding of God's love comes to us through the experience of human love. It was with a picture of an earthly father, surrounded b...

The kind of love that marks a christian

Why does the Great Commandment instruct us to love God first, others second? Because this is the order in which God himself loves. God’s love did not begin in Genesis 1:1. It is eternal, existing before creation, having found eternal expression within the Trinity. It required no object outside the Godhead. We love because he first loved us. He loves us, having first and eternally loved himself. Self-love is not always commendable in humans. While loving ourselves accurately is good, and even necessary for loving our neighbor, the Bible also speaks to the negative category of those who are “lovers of self” (2 Tim. 3:2). We have all known people whom we would label as an egotists, those who think of themselves more highly than they should. Egotism is an impossibility for God. He is irreproachably a lover of self, being the only one worthy of total love. For God not to love himself would be irrational. God’s worth is infinite, making him alone worthy to receive infinite self-love, as we...

Love

Jesus loved all kinds of people: including sinners, marginalized people, tax collectors, the sick, women and children. In fact, he used to eat with notorious public sinners in order to guide them to repentance. The love of Jesus is declared in many ways. i. Relieving the Weary: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11: 28-30). ii. Feeding the Hungry At least on two occasions, Jesus fed a multitude of hungry people who were following him. On one occasion, he fed about five thousand men besides women and children by blessing five loaves of bread and two fish (Matthew 14:13-21; Luke 9:11-17). On the other occasion, he fed about four thousand men besides women and children by blessing seven loaves of bread and a few fish (Matthew 15: 32-39). On both occasions, he did that upon hi...
